About the Contributors

Toh EnJoe is a Japanese author of literary, scientific, and speculative fiction. Born in Hokkaido, he studied physics and mathematics and worked as a researcher and at a software firm before becoming a full-time writer of everything from mathematical theory fiction to a Godzilla novelization. He has received several awards for his fiction, including the Noma Prize for New Writers, the Nihon SF Taisho Award, the prestigious Akutagawa Prize for Harlequin Butterfly, and the Philip K. Dick Special Citation for his mosaic novel Self-Reference Engine. His English-language short fiction has appeared in Granta, Words Without Borders, The Best Small Fictions 2016, and Strange Horizons. The novella Harlequin Butterfly is also available in English.
